At Heart of a Writer, I share tips and ideas to help you live a well-rounded, healthy life. I’m not here to discuss weight loss fads or expensive spas. I’m here to discuss inspirational and helpful topics on mind, body and spiritual health. I will share easy to maintain ideas for a calming, healthy, sustainable, green, and organic lifestyle. Heart of a Writer is for those who truly want to bring positive change to their life. There may be times when you stumble and fall. I understand. I’ve been there. It is my hope that Heart of a Writer will help pick you up so you can continue on with your journey of Wellness.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve created peaceful spaces in my home and yard where I would shift gears from my busy job and take care of my mental, spiritual, and emotional health. I am a self-taught indoor and outdoor gardener, birder and surround myself with blossoms and songbirds year round…even during the cold Minnesota winters. Over the years, I also became serious about living an eco-friendly/green lifestyle, as well as including essential oils into my daily life. I felt it was my responsibility to not only keep my body and mind healthy, but to keep God’s Earth clean.
AT TIMES WE STUMBLE
I must confess, there have been times in my life when I’ve stumbled away from a healthy, reflective lifestyle, but I’ve always bounced back even stronger and further committed to my purpose. Perhaps you can relate. About a year ago, I was going through a very hectic time in my life and realized I had abandoned the quiet moments of mental and emotional escape which I often gifted myself. I often took advantage of those moments to open a book of poetry, write, diffuse my favorite oils, browse through a gardening magazine, pray, walk through my gardens, or just watch the birds feeding. During those moments my mind and body are allowed to relax and rejuvenate. No matter how hectic life is around me, I was always able to grant myself those mini vacations of renewal. I knew I needed to reclaim those moments! Fortunately, it’s never hard for me to bounce back because of my determination and commitment to my emotional, spiritual and physical health. How many of you can relate to what I’ve written? How many have put your emotional and/or physical well-being on hold as life got busier and busier? How many of you feel that you don’t have permission to allow yourself this much-needed time to decompress. I will tell you right now—you DO have permission and it is essential that you take care of your emotional and physical well-being. Heart of a Writer isn’t just about one thing.
